Default Getting Amazon reviews

Hi Eric,

Datafeedr currently does not allow the retrieval of Amazon product reviews. That's something essential to me, and I think to any online store. Buying stuff online with no hands-on experience is very risky if you just have a (biased) description of the product.

Some pluggins do that, but their other features are much more limited than datafeedr.

So I was looking at ways to develop it myself into datafeedr, for amazon products only. I saw in the datafeedr.php file a list of things you query the API for, in the function save_to_local_storage():

id BIGINT(20) UNSIGNED PRIMARY KEY,
name VARCHAR(255),
description TEXT,
price DECIMAL(10,2),
saleprice DECIMAL(10,2),
currency VARCHAR(255),
image VARCHAR(2040),
thumbnail VARCHAR(2040),
url VARCHAR(2040),
brand VARCHAR(255),
sku VARCHAR(255),
model VARCHAR(255),
ean VARCHAR(255),
isbn VARCHAR(255),
asin VARCHAR(255),
sprice DECIMAL(10,2),
upd_ts INT UNSIGNED,
is_del TINYINT

So could I add a query to get the URL to amazon reviews in there ? and then include that in my product pages as an iframe, that's the classic way to do it.

If you have some suggestions on how to achieve that it'd be great. If not, simply knowing if that is conceivably implementable by myself would be great.

Thanks a lot !

Hi,

Feel free to modify the plugin. It's distributed under the GPL so you are free to hack the code.

Just remember to backup your changes so you don't lose them upon upgrading the Datafeedr plugin.

Eric
