Default Problem with Meta Title And Yoast

I am using Yoast SEO and i am having a problem with the meta title .. it is stuck on homepage url/title. The permalink is also frozen.

It will not change. when I disable yoast its fine ...sort of (I get a | at end of meta title when i turn it off)

Is there a set of recommended settings I can follow as something is wrong...

Thanks (2 spaces below in link)

Hi,

I tested the code, WordPress SEO and the Voyage theme on my site and it works fine.

Make sure you have added the code to your functions.php file properly. To do this:

1. Open this file: /wp-content/themes/voyage/functions.php

2. Scroll to the bottom and find this section of code:
PHP Code:
if ( ! is_admin() )

add_action'wp_enqueue_scripts''voyage_scripts_method' );

// Load Framework function.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-general.php' );
// Load functions extends WP functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-function.php' );
// Load grid functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-layout.php' );
// Load content functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-content.php' );
// Load Theme widgets
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/widgets.php' );
// Load Social functuons
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/social.php' );
// Action Hooks.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/hooks.php' );
// Load Scheme
require( get_template_directory() . '/scheme/scheme.php' );
if (
is_admin()) {

// Load theme options page and related code.

require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-admin.php' );

// Load Template Builder.
//    require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-template.php' );
    // Load theme options page and related code.

require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/theme-options.php' );
}
?>
3. At the bottom between } and ?> add this code:
PHP Code:
function dfr_remove_wpseo_title$title ) {
    global
$wpseo_front;
    if (
is_dfr()) {

remove_filter('wp_title', array($wpseo_front'title'), 15);
    }
}
add_action'init''dfr_remove_wpseo_title' );
4. Save the file.

Basically when you are done the end of your functions.php file will look like this:

PHP Code:
if ( ! is_admin() )

add_action'wp_enqueue_scripts''voyage_scripts_method' );

// Load Framework function.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-general.php' );
// Load functions extends WP functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-function.php' );
// Load grid functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-layout.php' );
// Load content functions.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-content.php' );
// Load Theme widgets
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/widgets.php' );
// Load Social functuons
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/social.php' );
// Action Hooks.
require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/hooks.php' );
// Load Scheme
require( get_template_directory() . '/scheme/scheme.php' );
if (
is_admin()) {

// Load theme options page and related code.

require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-admin.php' );

// Load Template Builder.
//    require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/lib-template.php' );
    // Load theme options page and related code.

require( get_template_directory() . '/inc/theme-options.php' );
}

function
dfr_remove_wpseo_title$title ) {
    global
$wpseo_front;
    if (
is_dfr()) {

remove_filter('wp_title', array($wpseo_front'title'), 15);
    }
}
add_action'init''dfr_remove_wpseo_title' );

?>

Hi,

Unchecking "Force rewrite titles" here WordPress Admin Area > SEO > Titles & Metas fixed the issue.

I have been having this same issue. Cannot seem to fix it at all, without disabling the Yoast plugin. Having so many issues with Yoast at the moment, it seems to just be overwriting everything no matter what.

Pretty much everything I could think of, unchecked lots of options, deleted text from title fields, looked at the php, looked at the Datafeedr head elements, deactivated etc. In the end I just changed to All In One SEO as a lot of people mention it on here - haven't looked back.

I've been having problems with Yoast recently with Twitter cards and Facebook open graph as well, so I'm glad to see the back of it really, unfortunately. It seems to have a slight superiority complex
