Default Can I Reformat the Category List?

Hi,

On this page, at the bottom, I have placed the category list. It looks rather rough in its current form.

Can I reformat it to look like my footer? home | about us | contact us, etc. In other words:

1) have only the child categories show? (personalized keepsakes, personalized baby frames, etc)
2) remove the parent category (shop by occasion, shop by recipient, etc?)
3) remove the main category names? (silver baby, baby frames, organic baby clothes?)
4) run them horizontally along the bottom like my footer?

Thank you.

Hi

Yes, you can reformat it. You just need to add some CSS to style a list in a horizontal row.

See this page for dozens of examples of how to style lists: http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/

You can get the desired effect by using the Category list module settings ( ). You can choose to only show parents, only children and you can control the depth as well.

Thanks Eric!

I will look into the css.

I tried showing only child categories, but when I updated, nothing came up. I tried this in several variations using the depth too, but still no luck.

Can you help me figure out why when I set it to child categories, no categories show up after I update?

I did what I described above to this page

Thank you!

Hi

That's because the category "engraved baby gifts" does not have any subcategories.

Okay, so in theory I would not be able to just show, in this case:

personalized baby - then its subcategories on each of the personalized baby subcategory pages? (leaving off shop by occasion, shop by....and the other shop by category subcategories: baby frames, organic baby clothes, etc)

It would look like this:

personalized baby
personalized keepsakes
personalized baby frames
engraved baby gifts
personalized blankets
embroidered baby gifts
best selling personalized baby gifts
top 10 personalized baby gifts

Instead of this

shop by recipient
shop by occasion
shop by category
personalized baby
personalized keepsakes
personalized baby frames
engraved baby gifts
personalized blankets
embroidered baby gifts
best selling personalized baby gifts
top 10 personalized baby gifts
baby frames
baby blankets
silver baby
organic baby clothes

Thank you!

Hi

Yes, you can do something similar to that but it's a little tricky to set up.

Create a new custom view.
Name it something like 'catmenu'
Add a category list module to the view
Add the necessary template code to the module.
Configure the depth you want it to show.
Wherever you want that category list to appear, use this shortcode: catmenu?c=123456] (where 123456 is the parent category of the children you want to show (ie. personalized baby)).
