Default Widget Problems

Hi Eric,

Store ID: 38583
Website URL: http://plus-sizeboutique.com
URL to page in question:

Stumped - I have set up a brand filter and merchant filter which do not show on store/category/* pages when selected on Context Widget (have deleted and reinstalled) but will show if CW is left blank with "hide on selected" - they also seem to show randomly, for instance on store/category/lingerie merchant filter will show, but not brand; on store/category/bras , a subcat of lingerie filter by merchant will show - with no merchants?

I have deleted a bunch of neglected plugins with no change!

I have a very similar set up on fairtrade-fashion.co.uk, category via brand specific dropdown which is fine - works on the pages selected. Also same theme as P-SB? Any ideas?

second, I cannot seem to fine the right wording to stop filters showing on home page - I've tried many variations <home>, store/, http://plus-sizeboutique, http://plus-sizeboutique/store

ps; on both sites store is home page

Hi

Can you please post a screenshot of your CW settings?

But it does seem that the Context Widget has not been updated in 2 years therefore it is possible that it doesn't work with the newest version of WP.

Have you looked at others such as:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...-logic-visual/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...s/screenshots/

Default Tried all....

Tried them all - don't seem that they work properly with DFR?!?

If I show on selected>>nothing
If I hide on selected>>on all

Hi

Something seems to be wrong with the Widget Context plugin...

But I did get Widget Logic to work. Using the built-in functions for Datafeedr, you can do something like this:

is_dfr() - returns true if we're on a datafeedr page
is_dfr('home') - returns true if we're on the home page
is_dfr('category') - returns true if we're on a category page
is_dfr('product') - returns true if we're on a product details page

To use 2 or more functions in the same statement, use the double pipe || separator:

is_dfr('home') || is_dfr('category') - returns true if we're on the store front page or on a store category page.

Thumbs up

Many thanks for this thread, folks. I got into one of our non-DFR sites last night looking for a solution & tried Widget Logic Visual plugin. Nice!

It's based on the original Widget Logic but they've made it a bit more friendly for all those of us who want/need to just point-&-click sometimes, without thinking code.

It also does the "conditional" if that's what you want too.

They also have a fast & simple video to go with it. I've bookmarked this thread for the "is_dfr" etc explanation bits that you've supplied, Eric, just in case we need it on any of our DFR affiliate websites.

PS Never actually got around to trying Widget Context. Has anyone contacted them about updating? Maybe I will...
