Default Creating Filters Question

On your Creating filters that do the work of categories section there was a code to make a dropdown menu instead of list.
I have it working but my problem is that it seems all the categories that only have 3 letters dont seem to show any products although i know they exist.
Example:AGV .
Is there a problem with 3 letter words or is there a fix for it?
Sorry not an expert Thanks
