Default Linking

If we originally create something as a CATEGORY page and then later drag and drop it into another CATEGORY, does it then become a SUB-CATEGORY for linking purposes?

For example, I created CATEGORIES like "Christmas" "Mardi Gras" "Easter" etc. as individual categories and then decided they should be grouped under a "Holidays" CATEGORY, so I dragged and dropped them there, but it seems like the links still go to the original CATEGORY name -- which is fine because it'll save me work by not having to go back and change the menu links.

I'd just like to know if I did that properly?

Yes, you did it properly. And if you don't use "%cp" (which stands for category path) in your Category page URL Settings, then it won't affect the URLs.
