Default Embedding shortcode in my sidebar

I've been looking to find a thread in our forum on how how I can embed DFR short code in my sidebar? I'd like to display a small thumb nail picture of my products, title, price and the merchant's logo. This way I can still write a detailed review and display those products in my sidebar.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Why not just use the provide Products widget?

Hi Eric,

I am using Wordpress and have created a custom sidebar where I would like to display some products from a Datafeedr category I created for a new product review I wrote. I tried using the Products Widget but the products won't display in my post via my custom sidebar.

Can I choose which products I want to display in the Products Widget?

Hi

You need to create a new WIDGET (in the factory) and configure it to only show products from the specified category.

This can be done by doing this:

1. Go here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > WIDGETS > Add a new view
2. Give it the name "New Products"
3. Add a product list module to the "New Products" view.
4. Add the template you want to the Product list module template area.
5. Open the Product list settings and choose "use custom query"
6. In the "Custom query string" field, put in c=123456 (where 123456 is the Category ID for the new products)
7. Update your store by clicking the [Update Settings Only] button.
8. Go to WordPress Admin Area > Appearance > Widgets and add the new "New Products" widget to your custom sidebar.

That should work if the custom sidebar is configured to show widgets.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your instructions. Much appreciated.

Is it possible for me to use the widget "New Products" to import different categories related to other custom sidebars I develop? I'd like to show relevant products related to my articles I publish in my sidebar.

Hi

Yes, you can do this by embedding shortcodes of other widgets like this:

[DFR:widget/my-first-widget]

You can get more information here: http://www.datafeedr.com/docs/item/185
