Default Moving a site from host to host

I have a large site that I would like to move to another host.

I have a plugin that will compress and download all the files and database and remake it on another server with little or no problems and it's a great time saver. The site is a several hundred meg big so may take a while.

or....I can manually save the databases and move across the main files without all the images (where I think most of the size will be). If I did this would the page url's change if I were to update the products and settings as I'd like to avoid losing urls to the pages that are indexed by google?

What in your opinion is the best way to move across?

Best wishes,

Do you have cpanel on both the hosts? If so email your new host and they should be able to transfer it all over easily using WHM
