Cool Factory > View > Store Front Page > Product List

Store ID: http://factory3.datafeedr.com/feeder/shop?shop=33345
website: www.coolgearguy.com
Store page: http://coolgearguy.com/?q=store

In the Factory's Store Front Page Default View under Product List section there is code for <!-- Random Products List Loop --> whereby random products display in WP website.

I am wondering how I can edit this code to display particular products in the store that I want to promote (ie: not random)? Is there a video tutorial or similar on this? If so, please point me to it or perhaps explain how I can do this? Thanks.

Currently there is no video but lots of people have posted regarding this in the forums.

What specific products do you want to display?

Specific products I want to display will change from time to time so I want to know how to edit this section. I will want to display heavily discounted products, ClickBank products or products I'm specifically promoting for one reason or another. I'll change the heading from Random Products to Promoted Products. A couple of examples of specific products I'd like to display in this section now are:

http://coolgearguy.com/?q=store/film...levision-2204/

http://coolgearguy.com/?q=store/film...ownloads-2208/

http://coolgearguy.com/?q=store/musi...oduction-2205/

and so forth...

The best way to display specific products is to create a new category and set the category as hidden (you can do that when you create the new category).

A hidden category is a category that won't appear in the standard store navigation.

Then, add your specific products to that category.

Then you will set the custom query string for the random products Product List module to only show products from that category. You can do this by inputting c=123456 into the custom query string field for the module, where 123456 is the ID of the category.

That should do it.

Hi Eric, I'm doing the same thing for the Category View as I did for the Store Front Page but I'm having a heck of a time trying to recall where I get that Category ID from? (ie: I've created another Hidden category and need to find the ID for it to enter into the View > Product List module settings). Please advise?

The category ID can be found in the URL when you click on a category name.
