Default Cannot edit the Views HTML for the Category module in the Factory

Hi Eric/Stefan,

My store id is: 32129

I'm trying to build a store and have it showing on my store's url using WP now. I watch the complete video you made with the 12 steps. I'm happy that I do not have a problem updating the store and all, which means I got through steps 1-11 fine. Number 12 has me confused, though.

I'm trying to add a new default View for the Category Page. My problem is I cannot see the HTML for the Category Page in the Views section in the factory. The code is not showing up in the right side pane. I can click on templates and tags on the left side pane and see previews, but the code does not show at all. It only does this for the Category Page, the code shows on other modules like Store Front Page, Product Detail etc.

The structure of my categories is:

Main Category A (without products)
Main Category B (without products)

I hope you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

So, I think I understand. You create a new CATEGORY PAGE view. Did you add any modules to that view? I'm assuming you did... Then you go to add the default template code to that view, right? And when you click the snippet in the left sidebar, nothing gets inserted in the right textarea. Is this correct?

If so, try placing your cursor in the right textarea, type a couple of letters, delete the letters and then click the snippet. That should "engage" the textarea.

Just FYI, you do not have to create a CATEGORY PAGE view for each one of your categories. Only do so if you want a specific category to have a different layout than the Default category layout.

Thanks Eric!

You understood the problem and your solution was right on target. I only clicked/double-clicked/triple-clicked in the text area to engage it, but didn't try typing some text, erasing it and trying the snippets again... but that worked!

As for the Category layout, I understood that from the tips shown when adding a new view. I also read your post about using filters instead of categories to eliminate redundant steps and I wish I could do that to make my life easier but I need the category pages for SEO.

Anyway, I'm a happy camper now
