Default Filter Categories

I need to make two seperate category widgets. The first one I want to show regualr store categories which I can place in my sidebar widget and also append them to the header bar for my customers to shop from.

The 2nd one, I want to show only the subcategories of one category.

Now I have set up both and both work. BUT here is my problem. I do not want the categories from the 2nd one to show up in the 1st one no in the header bar. So I set them to be hidden.

That worked for the 1st category widget, but it then would not show the subcategories from the 2nd one.

Is there a conditional statement that I can include for the 2nd one so I can keep the categories hidden from the 1st category widget and from the header but show in the 2nd category widget?

site I am referring to is: http://bridalgiftsgalore.com/
1st widget is labeled: Store Categories
2nd widget is labeled: Merchants

Hi

You can add a conditional to the 1st widget right after the [category.list] tag like this:

<?php if ($category->id==123456 || $category->id==789102 || $category->id==987654) { return; } ?>

The IDs represent the categories you do not want to show in the 1st widget.

Default One Category Not Showing In Widget

I have searched the forum for an answer to my problem and I did not find that anyone had this problem. I have two separate category widgets - one to list my categories and one to list my merchants. The merchant one works just fine. The category one is not functioning correctly.

What I did was copy the category widget code and add it to another widget view I called Main Categories. I then added this line to it to exclude it from showing my merchants:

PHP Code:
<?php if ($category->id==573527) { return; } ?>
on my site http://bridalgiftsgalore.com/ I have added the category widgets for you to see. The first one is the regular category widget view that comes with dfr. The second one is my main category widget view that I created to show my main categories (which there are two: Candles and Wedding Favors). The third one shows the merchants, which is correct.

How do I fix the Main Category Widget so it shows all my cats?

I added a few more categories and discovered all the categories that are listed after Merchants (which I excluded from showing) are not showing either. If I add additional merchants to exclude at top level nothing will show below them either.

Try replacing the word "return" with the word "continue". That might solve the problem.
