Default exclude by image not working, need idea.

The datafeed you updated for me for Global Golf has many images that are exactly the same but appear to be served from "the cloud". Examples:

http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/image...027826-aaa.jpg

http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/image...027826-aab.jpg

http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/image...027826-aac.jpg

etc.

So all of my saved searches that are excluding products by image aren't working for Global Golf. I'm getting many many duplicate products from this datafeed because of it. Is there any way around this that you can think of?

Hi,

Have you tried excluding by product name instead?

Yes, not much difference. However that's really not an option when 200+ categories have already been created that exclude by image. Are you able to at least confirm for me what the problem is so I can try to see if Global golf can fix it? (which I doubt.) It appears to me that they are storing images in the cloud, in a way that when the same image is used in many different areas it gets assigned it's own URL. Don't know if this is a new way to do things or an old way, but if everyone starts doing it the "exclude by image" function will be useless, which may well make using these datafeeds useless. So I'm thinking it might be something you guys might want to come up with a work around if it's possible. Otherwise I'll just have to turn off Global Golf and any other affilliates that assign different URL's for the same images.

Hi,

Exclude by name works for me. As you can see, when excluding by name, only 2 products are returned. Two are returned because they have different prices... ie. not duplicates:

Exclude by image doesn't work because that checks the image URLs. In this case each image URL is different (just by 1 character):

Code:
http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/images/product/regular/1027000/1027826-aaa.jpg
http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/images/product/regular/1027000/1027826-aab.jpg
http://cloudimg.globalgolf.com/images/product/regular/1027000/1027826-aac.jpg
Unfortunately at this time I don't really see a work around besides using Exclude by Name.

Yeah, but you are searching for a very specific product name. My categories are "ping drivers" not every ping driver. Also if I change all 200+ categories to search by name it would mess up all the other categories I created.

Not that I want to do this...but could I go back and make all the current searches exclude global golf, then create a new set of searches for just Global golf? That way I can have all the others exclude by image and just this one exclude by name.

If that will even work. Golf clubs are a tough item to categorize with datafeedr to begin with. Many many configurations of shaft, head, loft, mens/womens/ etc. etc. So you could have the same name on 20 different listings of the same club, which I don't want. Search by image stops that to some extent, but I don't think by name would work. But if it does for Global golf, could I do the above?

Since the cloud is a new thing, or at least fairly new. You guys may want to get a handle on what your users will do if more and more feeds start doing this. I have about 15 vendors. If even 5 of them switch to the cloud I really don't have a store anymore unless there is a way to narrow down searches by image without the exact URL. It makes puttin g all of my eggs in the Datafeedr basket a little riskier going forward.

Yes, that is possible by using the merchant filter.

Add a merchant filter to your current search subscriptions and specify the merchants for that subscription. Click Find and then the Save Search button.

Then add a new search subscription specifically for Global Golf.
