Default Search Widget

It was a search bar that was coded here it was full width and had filters on it.

Like a nicer version of the advanced search. simple to add it was just a snippet.

Hi,

You need to re-check the "Allow override" checkbox here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > SEARCH PAGE > Default > Product list module > Setting ()

Hi,

Unfortunately that's because the merchant has tagged everything with all brand names. When searches are performed, all fields are searched such as tags. And the merchant has the following tags for most/all products:
  • Adams
  • Bridgestone
  • Callaway
  • Champion
  • Cleveland
  • Cobra
  • Edwin
  • Garmin
  • Mizuno
  • Nike
  • Oakley
  • Ping
  • Prince
  • Puma
  • Taylormade
  • Titleist
  • Watts
  • Wilson

Default OK

For clarity ..

Search is based on tags only. ? Is removing them an option. ?

Hi,

Search is based on name, descriptions and tags.

Currently there is no way to remove tags.

Default No way round this then..

I disabled tags on the drip settings, removed all tags on dripped items,

Still showing so i guess thats that NO search ... Or remove any offending stores.

Any way to add "XX" to end of all tags somehow or are they just not on my WP install ?

Where are they coming from?

Thanks.

Hi,

I see the problem... unfortunately it's a MySQL setting.

Basically if a word appears in more than 50% of the records in a database, searches for that word are ignored. The word 'Titleist' appears in over 50% of your products (either in the product name or description or tag) and when you perform a search for 'Titleist' it returns all products (basically failing).

However other searches such as the following work just fine:

http://shop.progolfvideotips.com/Dis...ame=golf+balls
http://shop.progolfvideotips.com/Dis...Stinger+Ladies
http://shop.progolfvideotips.com/Dis...+driver+covert

I'm unsure if you can modify your MySQL settings to get around this. That would be something you'd need to ask your host about.
