Default Coupon search?

http://saveongolf.net

I set up the available coupons that list after the detail of any product clicked on. (all coupons from that retailer.) Since there are a lot of coupon shoppers out there, I'd love to be able to make coupons searchable? In other words make a search widget to search for coupons from the various retailers? Is that possible?

Hi,

This is not possible when your "Coupons" category is set to hidden.

What if I unhide it? Will it give me coupon results for every vendor? Can I search by Merchant?

Hi,

If you unhide then it will function the same as searching for your other products and your coupons will be searchable.

I can't figure out how to get back into the coupon area to unhide it!

Hi,

You can do that here The Factory > Your Store > CATEGORIES > Coupons > Category menu > Category Properties

That worked, thanks. I have another more complicated one for you now...
the results for coupons don't look all that great or make much sense showing this way.
http://saveongolf.net/store/category/find-coupons/
I think it might look better and be more useful if the coupons could display like they do here:
http://saveongolf.net/store/clevelan...7901875317349/
But I'd also like to have them listed by Merchant...maybe with the Merchant logo..then all of that Merchants coupons, then the next...

Is that possible? Their are no images for the coupons so it looks bad the way it is now.

Thanks so much again.

Hi,

Sure. Just create a new Category Page view for the "Coupons" category and add the custom coupon code to the Product list module just for that new view.

Here's how to create a custom category view: http://www.datafeedr.com/videos/?vid...rc=yt#videotop

Thanks Eric, I'm going to try it now. By doing this will it affect how the coupon results display now on the product detail page? I like the way they are there and would like to have the results show up just like that on the "Find Coupons" page.

Hi,

No, that won't affect your Product Details page.

I have the page up..but the coupon page looks pretty bad! Is there a way for me to have the results show up in categories like "Golfsmith", TGW, Amazon. etc? Or at least have them display by merchant. Right now it's just random. If you need to access the site to see you'll have to wait, it just went down. I'm on hold with Hostgator chat. since there's a 30 minute hold time I'm thinking it's not just me.

Hi,

Unfortunately that's not really possible.

what if I created a category called "coupons" and added drop downs for the various merchants? That would work right? I'd really like to have it sort the results by merchant though. Are you sure that can't be done? Want to make sure you're not misunderstanding my question. Right now the results are random. All want is all coupons from company x, then all from company y, z....

Just realized you can't add products (coupons) to sub-categories like you do with regular products. So I'm punting on the idea unless you think I'm missing something easy here.

Coupons can be added to sub-categories, just like products.

I must be missing something. How do I search for coupons to add "products"? I tried "Callaway coupons" and got nothing. Tried just coupons and got nothing. I know I'm missing something simple here. Am I searching in the wrong database or something?

Hi,

Unfortunately, most coupons don't have very useful text in order to search... That's the problem with searching for coupons... there's not much to search.

In the tutorial video where it shows how to add coupons to the detail page....do you know what "search" is used to pull those up? I can't find any coupons searching "coupons"? I'm not looking for a specific kind of coupon, just all coupons offered by a merchant.
