Default Easy Social Share plugin not working

I saw on a previous thread that you recommended Easy Social Share plugin for integrating social sharing. I added the short code as you advised, but while the buttons are showing, they're reading the info correctly.

Reference: http://www.vintageshopper.com/store/...7700000070021/

E.g. Share to facebook displays the store's home page data (title, description)

same issue with twitter share

It should be reading the info from the detail page. Any idea why this isn't working?

Thanks

That's probably because your theme (or a plugin) is adding meta og and meta twitter tags to your header section.

og tags are open graph tags. They are used by social sharing sites like Facebook.

See http://ogp.me/ for more info.

It looks like the plugin is taking the info from the tags below.

<meta property="og:url" content="http://www.vintageshopper.com/store"/>
<meta property="og:image" content="http://www.vintageshopper.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/logo_on_black.png"/>

The og:image is pointing to your logo.

The og:url is pointing to your store home page.

That's probably why home page info and logo are displayed when clicking on facebook button.

The same is true for twitter.

It looks like the plugin is trying to pull its info from the meta twitter tags.

See https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards/types/summary-card for more info.

<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary"/>
<meta name="twitter:site" content="@vintage_shopper"/>
<meta name="twitter:domain" content="Vintage Shopper"/>

If you can disable these tags from being generated you'll probably get better info displayed.

I turned off every setting I could find that reference open graph, but it still won't work. Btw -- sharing with google does work.

I suspect it has to do with how datafeedr creates the pages under the path - domain.com/store

I recall there were some instructions in this forum, that outlined how to get facebook to recognize the page title, description and image.

I had it working with Facebook (per your instructions) prior to installing the "easy social share plugin" (per your recommendation).

UPDATE: it's stared to work to a degree now (maybe a caching issue).

The following problems still exist :

- Facebook share -- doesn't choose the main image
- Twitter - not bringing in title

The Facebook issue is probably a caching issue as I'm getting the right image when clicking the FB button. See screenshot attached.

Not sure about the Twitter issue. Have to look further into it.

You are also using Google Analytics for WordPress. Go in the Easy Social Share plugin to Main Settings -> Administrative Options and select option that you are using Google Analytics for WordPress.
