Default Testing Datafeedr in local WP environment

Hi,

Is there a way to test Datafeedr plugin locally? And how?

If it's not possible what is the best practice of testing and then rolling out a new Daatfeedr store for the live Wordpress blog?

Thanks,

Eugene

Hi,

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, that's possible. I do it all the time.

Just make sure your local server URL is http://127.0.0.1/

Then add your connection key and import your store.

Thanks Eric.

I just entered http://127.0.0.1/bombpetite/ (which is the URL I use for local) as a domain name in basic store settings and tried to import the store.

But got this error:

err_fatal_domain_mismatch

The domain name you have entered in the Factory does not match this website's domain name. Please log into the Factory and modify your domain name under your store's 'Basic store settings'

I should probably specify that I'm running XAMPP for Windows for my local environement. I'm not sure if I need to change any settings in XAMPP in order for the local server URL http://127.0.0.1/bombpetite/ to work with datafeedr..?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Unfortunately Datafeedr isn't compatible with Windows servers.

Hi Eric,

Just to clarity I use it on a Windows machine but XAMPP that I'm running for the local environment is using Apache and MySql (http://docs.grabaperch.com/solutions...xampp-install/). I'm not deeply technical but I thought this might make a difference...

Are there step I could take to get this local URL to work with datafeedr. It would really save me days of trying to figure out how else I can build and test the shop if there was a way.

Many Thanks

e

Hi

Unfortunately being Apache and MySQL won't help. It's the server (Windows) that is incompatible. If you were able to emulate a Linux server locally then it would work.

I guess you could install it on your live site in a sub-domain or sub-folder under a completely new installation of WordPress to test thing out.
