Default Tracking Conversions

Hi,
I will soon be doing PPC advertising for a datafeedr site of mine. How do I track the kwyword of what converts etc? As this is curcual when doing this type of promotion.

Does the keyword of the product itself get listed in the network with the way datafeedr is set up?

Thanks
Dave

We track the referrer URLs including keyword (if any) which you can see in the plugin under Tracking.

To know for sure if it works for PPC ads it's best to test if you click on one of your PPC ads whether a referrer URL and keyword are recorded.

I suggest you do the following test....

- Uncloak your affiliate links so you can see the real affiliate URLs on your site

- Activate your PPC ads

- Enter one of the keywords you're bidding on in Google

- Click on one of your ads

- As soon as you land on one of your pages verify your affiliate URLs and see if a referrer ID is present

- Check the plugin and verify whether the referrer URL and keyword has been recorded for the referrer ID

If the test is positive, a unique referrer ID will be reported for every sale your PPC ads refer.

To know the keyword you can then match each referrer ID in your affiliate stats with the referrer ID in the plugin.

Thanks Stefan,
Is this also the method to use when using different ad networks?

i.e. I use google and msn. If I get a sale, I get the full url so i can judge which product page converted the sale, but how do I know which ad or Search engine it came from?

What do you mean with ad networks? Adsense?

Not sure what will be tracked if you click on an Adsense ad that leads to one of your pages.

The only way to know is to test it by clicking on an Adsense ad. Then verify what has been recorded in the plugin under tracking.

If a visitor lands on one of your pages via the organic search results the referrer URL will be the entire search engine URL including keyword.

As I've no experience with PPC and as previously mentioned you should test what is tracked when you use PPC.
