Default Which Category URL Setting is Best?

Eric,

When I converted my big store over this morning to V3, I left the URL Settings for the categories as: store/category/%cs/ by accident, not realizing, that this wasn't the same structure as V1.

I just noticed a while ago and went AHHHH, so changed it to: store/category/%cz/
As I have hundreds pages ranking for different searches.

However, in the half day that the shorter urls were up, google has completely reindexed my site, with these new urls and I can see from the tracking that I ranking high already for these new shorter urls.

Now I am confused....!
Are the shorter urls better than the longer ones?

For example would this:
http://wallstickers-decals.com/store...-wall-stickers

Have any reason to rank better than this:
http://wallstickers-decals.com/store...-wall-stickers

I would have thought the longer one was better as it had more keywords in the url if someone searched for "disney toy story wall stickers".
But perhaps google prefers shorter urls??

Any ideas?

Hi

Honestly, I am not a search engine expert. I really don't know which length URL is best. I'm sure that has been argued to death over the years.

I wouldn't put too much value on one days ranking...

However I do think that keyword density in a url has some significance... i.e. the longer your url the lower the keyword density...

So if you want to rank for "toy story wall stickers" the short url has higher density than the second url... how significant the density is I do not know...
