Default No products and update process keeps running but nothing happens

The update process says it is running and locked, but nothing ever happens. i tried unistalling and reinstalling and it keeps happening. So i end up having to revert the store back to the older version. It has happened twice now. I am getting so i dont even want to update. i am using the new 3 version. I just tried a manual update and that worked great at least for now
