Default Why are product images already stored locally>

Store ID: 46971
Website URL: Androids.net.au

After watching 'Storing Product Images Locally" video, I was considering doing this action.

However, I first selected Set Up All Directories in my Datafeedr settings area when I installed DFR plugin 3 weeks ago. So I had a look with CuteFTP & it not only it shows those directories but they're already full of product images & thumbnails.

Strangely, the setting to change in Factory for the store is still set at the defaults:
Products > store/image/%pi/%ps/
Thumbnails > store/thumbnail/%pi/%ps/

Any idea how this is happening?

And yes, the images get refreshed in my site's subdirectories whenever I Update Products and Settings, as I add new product category Search subscriptions.

My concern is: If I later decide to return things to default merchant server settings, what would I do?

Hi

When the directories are set up, images are automatically imported into those directories.

If you want to revert, you can just delete those directories and the settings on the Directories page.

However, in the meantime, you should change your URL Settings for Product Image and Product Thumbnail to %li and %lt respectively.

Ta, Eric, I've watched that video 3 times now. And it's still unclear in the video as to what happens when I change my URL Settings per your directions.

IOW, what do these 2 little bits of DFR code actually do?

Hi

When you make that change, images will be rendered from their spot in your directory directly instead of the URLs being rewritten from /store/image/%pi/%ps/ to /wp-content/uploads/store/images/images/%pi.

It's a faster way of displaying images.

Clearer now, thanks. Have done that little change to utilise local image/process.

Using an extra 500+ Mb of disk space (per site, as we bring them into Datafeedr) on my Hostgator Shared Hosting Plan ain't gonna matter either.

Have a good week ahead!
