Default Category drop down & sales items

Having searched the forum it seems that this is possible. I do html and php but find integrating this into df a slight problem - can anyone shed any light on achieving this please?

Finally - the sales item custom view - how to use?

Hi

Can you please expand and clarify your question? I have no idea what you want to do?

Also, please post 1 question per thread as per posting guidelines.

Eric

Sorry about 2 questions. To save room on the sidebar, I'd like to have a dropdown list of available categories as opposed to the standard DF category widget which displays all categories in one long list.

This works as a Widget View. Just create a new Widget here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > WIDGETS > Add a new view

Then add a Category list module to your new view.

Then add the following code to your Text module.

HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
	function redirectMe (sel) {
		var url = sel[sel.selectedIndex].value;
		window.location = url;
	}
</script>

<select name="myselect" onchange="redirectMe(this);">
	<option value="#">Select a category</option>
	[category.list before='' after='']
    	<option value="[category.link]">[category.name]</option>
	[/category.list]
</select>

I pasted that into a text widget - I get the dropdown but on clicking what I get is [category.name] without the values.

It should be pasted into a Category List module.

Hi Eric,

how can I use your code in order to display not the categories but the brands?

Right now there are too many brands to show as separate menu link as you can see on my website.

Best regards,
Oliver
