Wordpress Category Views

Hi Eric ..

Do you understand what is happening here?
http://hartmarket.com/category/popular-searches/

It's recapping posts in the wordpress category - which, in my example is the drip feed posts, and looks like this on the above link

Quote:

Zotac ZBOX nano AD10 Desktop Computer AMD Fusion E-350 1.60 GHz Mini PC

There's no problem on the 'real' link, where you click the Read More or title of the post
http://hartmarket.com/zotac-zbox-nan...0-ghz-mini-pc/

I don't suppose there is a way for the Category view to just pick up the thumbnail in the drip feed, or first 50 characters in this Category view .. or is there a way?

thanks
HART

Eric

If you are meaning this statement:
"The reason that featured posts on your homepage only show the shortcode is because your homepage is set to display post excerpts only. You need to make your homepage show the full post (ie. the_content() instead of the_excerpt())."

How does that help? We are not talking about my homepage - which, does show the_content() ... it's the category view. I'm using Genesis, and while the front page is organized by widgets that can show either excerpt view or not - there is no widget for viewing categories .....

How would I edit the wordpress view of categories? is there some code I can add to my functions.php file?

Well - I've posted a question over in the Studiopress forums for my theme and let's see what they come up with ... I also noticed it is the same with the "Author" view as well (http://hartmarket.com/author/admin/) and serious issue for all my sites in my basic design concept

Hi

That means your category template is using the_excerpt() instead of the the_content() function. The category template could be controlled by archive.php or category.php or possibly even index.php (or some include file). So it's best to wait to see what SP says.

They still haven't gotten back to me - But, you got me thinking! I'm using a child theme with none of the above, so I copied my home.php into both archive.php and category.php (without edit) and uploaded it to the child theme I'm using and voila~
