Products on home page

Hi Eric,

Can i ask how i would get products on my home page. I would like the user to see products to increase bounce rate and conversion.

I have a featured products page but i would i get these types of products fed to my home page?

Cheers

Hi Eric,

Watched the Video. My featured products are on this page http://www.rideonsurfshop.co.uk/surf-shop I want them to feature on the homepage along with the blog articles. How do i get the products above the blog content and maintain both on the home page?

Hi

You can use a Shortcode to embed into the post that appears on your homepage.

The problem is, I don't know where those featured products are being pulled from or what view they are using so I can't help any further until I know that.

Hi Eric,

Those products are being pulled from here http://factory3.datafeedr.com/feeder...418&cat=588418

Thanks for your assistance

Ok i have done the short code, but i dont want the following links and text to appear.

Store Home Featured Products

Featured Products

Pages: 1

Also the boxes for the products are messed up and the text isnt displayed ect. I would like to display the products smaller so i can get more on there without masses of scroll.

Also how do i only display say 21 products

Hi

Duplicate this view: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > CATEGORY PAGE > Default

Change the Page Type to Custom Page.

Name the view to something like "featured".

Delete all modules from the new "featured" view except for the Product List module.

Add the following code to your post: [DFR:featured?c=588418&ppp=21]

Hi Eric,

Sorry im a bit lost. I have added the custom view. how do i apply it to the category? I have added the code to the post and theres nothing showing? Can you see where i'm going wrong?

Eric April 14th, 2012 09:29 AM

Hi

You named your custom view "Featured Page" instead of "featured". So that means you have to update your shortcode. Use this:

[DFR:Featured Page?c=588418&ppp=21]

The only other things I did was delete the pagination links from the Product List module template area. You can have pagination on embedded shortcodes.

I also inserted the word "view" here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > CUSTOM VIEWS > Featured Page > View menu > View Properties > Custom CSS ID

"Featured Page" instead of "featured". I noticed that shortly after writing this mail. :)

Sweet as a nut. Thanks for that.

One more question how do i list a certain number of products, say 21 on the page? Obviously if theres more within the page can these be rotated randomly each time the page is refreshed?

Is this the command for how many show? =21]

Yes, ppp=21 shows 21 products. ppp=6 shows 6 products, etc...

Cool if i have say 100 products in the category but only display 21, can the other 79 be rotated to show within the displaying 21 each time the page is refreshed? If you understand me?

Eric April 14th, 2012 10:15 AM

No, that's not possible.

Eric April 14th, 2012 10:17 AM

Actually, if you set the sort=rand, it will show all products randomly:

[DFR:Featured Page?c=588418&ppp=21&sort=rand]
