Turn views into indexable pages

I'd like to know if there's a way to turn the custom views into indexable pages. For example:

Rather than having http://website.com/store/category/co...=Coffee+People turn it into http://website.com/store/category/coffee/coffee-people.

I tried doing a 301 redirect in my htaccess file
redirect 301 /store/category/coffee-cups/?name=Coffee+People /store/category/coffee/coffee-people

Thanks!
Joe

Hi

Of course, that's kind of one of the main purposes of custom views.

Let's say you created a custom view named "Sale Items". You can access that page here: yoursite.com/sale-items/

You can also change the URL for that page in your URL Settings.

Hey Eric - As usual thanks for the quick reply!

I tried looking at the documentation but I didn't see anything for creating the URLs. It's not working for me.

I created a custom view of keurig-makers but if I go to

http://savealatte.com/keurig-makers
http://savealatte.com/store/keurig-makers
http://savealatte.com/store/category/keurig-makers

none of those work.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks again!
Joe

Hi

I think the problem is you created new Widgets. You need to create new Custom Views.

I see the confusion now. I changed my settings to match this post. So using that as an example, that store would not be indexable right?

Could you do another post similar to that one showing some examples of creating custom pages? I searched for similar topics so if I overlooked it I apologize.

Thanks Eric!

Hi

To create a custom page you:

1. Go here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > CUSTOM VIEWS > Add new
2. Add the modules you want to display on that page.
3. Update your store by clicking the [Update Settings Only] button.

That should do it.

Custom Views not working for me

Hi Eric,

I can't seem to get custom views to work for me.

The Factory default has a custom view for Sale Items and you suggest that to see this page I should go to mystore.com/sale-items/ and it should show this view. It doesn't.

I tried creating my own Custom view titled "On Sale!" and then went to mysite.com/On-sale!/ and still nothing, just a 404.

What am I doing wrong?

My site is: www.mrsclaus.co.uk

Thanks,

Paul

Did you specify in Store > URL Settings the URL structure for your custom view(s)?

If you specify let's say related-products for the Related Products custom view the page will be accessible via yoursite.com/related-products/

After changing the URL settings don't forget to update your store first by clicking the [Update Settings Only] button.

Hi Stefan,

I've done this and it's still not working.

The URL for the where I want the sale-items to be is: "www.mrsclaus.co.uk/sale-items"

So in the URL settings for this custom view I have entered: www.mrsclaus.co.uk/sale-items

But it's still not showing anything.

Thanks,

Paul

You shouldn't have your domain name or "www" in the URL Settings field. You just need this:

store/on-sale/

Never mind, I have worked it out.

Thanks,
