Product thumnail images from merchant not showing

I've just setup a store, and I've added products but the products from this merchant , are not showing in the datafeedr store, there is no image to display. I have not added the store to my site yet tho.

The merchant's image URLs are broken and are leading to 404 pages.

Best to contact this merchant and make them aware about this issue.

For the time being could I just save the images and store them locally and direct to the datafeed?

Yes, but you will need to download, rename and upload each image to your server. It's really best to contact the merchant about this unless you are just dealing with a handful of products.
