How to redirect old product pages?

How would I go about redirecting (301) product pages to their main category?

Example:

Redirect From: http://www.mysite.com/category1/product-1234567890

Redirect To: http://www.mysite.com/category1/

What code can I use in htaccess to accomplish this?

Also, I'm using Wordpress Multisite.

Hi

I don't think this is possible because the category information is gone from the database.

As for modifying your htaccess file, I'm not sure how to accomplish that.

@gloalnet, you can use the Redirection plugin, but it all has to be done manually.
