Default General Linking Question

This question may seem silly, but I'm going to ask it anyway ...

I have a "Blog" page on my store, which I will use to try to add value by highlighting specific products and comparison sets.

If I search online and find something written elsewhere that I might find useful to my customers, can I post a link to this site with a small caption? For example, if I am selling iPhone cases and I find an article in the NY Times or Bloomberg of even about the latest iPhone about to come out, or an article of "Top 10 iPhone Cases", can I simply link to these sites without having to obtain some sort of permission from them?

Since the building of links and creation of value are important for SEO, this is one way I thought I could populate some of my blog page, but I'm not sure if there are "rules" around linking to other sites.

Yes, you can freely link to a website. You do not need permission as far as I know.
