Default Formatting in product description and specification fields

I'd like to include html markup in my category description, product description and specification fields. Is there any way to do this? For a category description, it currently just comes out as plain text.

Store ID: 40555
Website URL: Top secret- pm me if needed.

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, you can add HTML to your category descriptions. It will be rendered on your site as such. Don't forget, after you add your category descriptions, you must click the [Update Products and Settings] button, not the [Update Settings Only] button to update your store.

One thing to note about using HTML in your category descriptions, you should change your Category Page view <head> elements so that HTML does not appear in your meta tags. So instead of having:
HTML Code:
<meta name="description" content="[category.description]" />
You would need:
HTML Code:
<meta name="description" content="<?php echo substr(strip_tags($category->description), 0, 160); ?>" />
These changes can be made here: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > CATEGORY PAGE > Default > View menu > View <head> Elements

As for the product description, by default it is set to strip out HTML. If you've added HTML to your product descriptions (or the rare case where the merchant has provided HTML in their descriptions), you can enable it by adding an attribute to your [product.description] tag.

Change this:
HTML Code:
To this:
HTML Code:
[product.description html='yes']
Only use this in views where you want HTML to be rendered. I would only recommend this setting in this view: The Factory > Your Store > VIEWS > PRODUCT DETAIL > Default > Product detail module.
