Default Categories disappeared on Store Front

Hi, Eric:

I was trying to change my store so that the sub-categories displayed alphabetically on the category page (without the widget, as I am not using those yet), so I changed both the store front and category page to full tree and sort alphabetically. Which seemed to work, but then none of the links were working right, so I changed them both back to "only child" and "keep factory sorting" and now all the categories on my store front have disappeared entirely, although all the category pages are displaying fine (although no longer alphabetically, since I changed them back).

I thought by changing the setting back to the original settings that it would work fine, but it didn't.

Hi

The Category List on your store's front page can't be set to "Only child categories". It's kind of impossible because there are no child categories of no category. Put another way, your store front page is not associated with any categories therefore it cannot have any child categories.

You need to use one of the other 2 choices for your store front page.

Ok, thanks, Eric. That fixed it.

I've got the store front page category list set at: full tree, sort alphabetically
and category page list set at child, sort alphabetically.

Is that the right set up?

Thanks.
