Default Thesis 1.8 & Datafeedr Version 3 - Removing "Store" & extra <meta> tags

If you are using Thesis and Datafeedr, there are some conflicts because Thesis overrides the hooks that WordPress provides to plugin developers.

Removing the word "Store"

If you want to remove the word "Store" from the top of every page in your store, you will need to add the following code to Thesis's custom_functions.php file (~/wp-content/themes/thesis_18/custom/custom_functions.php) and then save the file:

PHP Code:
add_filter('the_title','dfr_remove_store_title');
function
dfr_remove_store_title($title) {
    return (
is_dfr()) ? '' $title;

Removing Meta Description and Keywords

If you want to remove the extra meta description and keyword fields that Thesis places in the <head> element of your site, you will need to modify core Thesis code as they do not provide any built in hooks to modify that information. To do so, open head.php (~/wp-content/themes/thesis_18/lib/classes/head.php), and scroll down to around line 64.
  1. Change this:
    PHP Code:
        function meta() {
            global
    $thesis_site$thesis_terms$wp_query#wp
  2. To this:
    PHP Code:
        function meta() {
            if (
    is_dfr()) return;
            global
    $thesis_site$thesis_terms$wp_query#wp
  3. Save the head.php file

That should get you all fixed up. Remember, when you edit core code, you will need to make the same modification every time you upgrade the Thesis theme.

Eric,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all the dedication going back and forth till everything worked out 100%. This is by far one of the best affiliate marketing tools I've ever bought!

Thanks for this tip on duplicate Thesis Meta descriptions. I've just implemented on one of my sites and it works as intended.
