Maximum Product Limit 100,000

Why is the maximum products per store set to 100,000?

I have been building my site for a while now, and have only now realized there is a limit, which is proving to be a rather limiting setting.

Is there any way this can be increased?

Hi

The limit is imposed for many reasons:

1. Huge stores are very taxing on our servers and would require much more server resources to accomodate larger stores... ie. more expensive for you.

2. Most user's hosting is on a shared server and a database that size under load is going to be too much for a shared server.

3. Our philosophy is geared more towards creating small, niche stores. Small, keyword focused stores are much easier to promote and sell products on than large, general stores where your competition is large merchants.

So for these reasons, we will not be increasing the limit.
