Default Google indexing related products widget, any ideas?

So I have the 'Related Products' widget showing on my product detail pages, displaying 4 random products from the same category.

When I search for the title of a product in my store, Google will often return a different product page but that had the searched-for product displaying in the RP widget at the time of indexing. The problem is that the products displayed are random, so not always the same, meaning the searched-for item is often not on the page. This leaves customers confused, and they then end up leaving the site.

Has anyone got any ideas or pointers for getting around this? Whether I can add a line of code to not index the RP section, or anything else.

I'm at a bit of a loss really as to what to search for.

Cheers.

Hi,

I would change the sorting of your Related Products > Product list module from "Random" to by price or something else.

Hmm, I really like it as a random sort though. Maybe I should just make sure all my pages are indexed properly so that the proper product page will come up instead, that could be the issue.

Hi,

I guess that would help, too.
