Default Only having %ps as product details url gives a 404

Hey guys,

As the title say, I'm trying to have only the product slug as the url for the product details page, by only having the %ps there in the url settings, but it doesnt work, only returns a 404.

Anything else works fine, like the category slug or a custom word, but not %ps by itself!?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

You can't have only %cs and %ps for their respective fields. Those 2 placeholders will conflict with each other when used on their own.

I see you've added %cs/%ps to the product page. That's probably safer and won't result in a conflict.

Thanks for the reply!

Ok, yeah I've gone back to %cs/%ps just because it returned a 404 if I used %ps on my own.

But I'll rewrite all my product titles and wont add anything that would conflict with something else...isn't there a way just to have %ps?

Because I have only %cs as category URL and that works fine, how will they conflict with each other if I'm just careful with what I name stuff?

...I just want short pretty product urls!

Hi

Even if everything doesn't conflict, there's still no way for our script to determine if a category page was requested or a product page when all you are dealing with is a single string.

Why not try %ps-%pi for your product page. That will just append the product ID to the end.

Eric
