Default Product feeds update, sorting template customization and new products on categories

Hello!

We have just started to use this very interesting plugin!

We have some questions and we would be grateful if you wouldn't mind replying.

1) It seems that product feeds are not updated day-by-day.
For example “PrezzoFelice” (merchant on Tradedoubler Italy) updates data feed every day. But when we add products to our categories we notice that on Datafeedr search there aren't the new products that we see on Tradedoubler data feed. We have noticed the same problem for other Italian merchants, the same happens also with prices (on Tradedoubler, Zanox and Amazon).
How many times are the data feeds of these affiliates updated on Datafeedr? There is a way to solve this problem?

2) About sorting template, is there a way to order products by “sale price” and not only by “price”?

3) If we understood correctly, new products are automatically updated and added to the categories.
Where can we see what are the new products? For example to modify description etc...
Moreover, for these new products is it possible to add automatically a “no follow” attribute when they are added? Just to avoid duplicate content etc...

Thank you very much and have a nice weekend!

Fil

Hi,

Welcome to the forums!

1. We do not update the merchant's data feeds daily. They are updated every couple of days.

2. Yes, you can add additional lines to your sorting template like this:

PHP Code:
"price"   => "Price (low to high)",

"-price"   => "Price (high to low)",

"saleprice"   => "Sale Price (low to high)",

"-saleprice"   => "Sale Price (high to low)",

"name"     => "Product Name (a - z)",

"-name"   => "Product Name (z - a)"
3. Yes, new products are automatically added/updated. However there is no way to know which products are new.

Hi Eric,

many thanks for your reply and for the useful php code!!

So, it seems there is a problem with PrezzoFelice data feed, as it has been updated 5 or 6 days ago. We have just checked the product list.
This merchant changes its data feed everyday, as the offers are on a daily basis, like Groupon/CityDeal. This means that if products are updated every couple of days we will have always expired offers.
Do you think it is possible to solve this problem?

Thank you very much!

Hi,

While we can get their feed updated for you, it is not possible for us at this time to update the product database on a daily basis. We have over 270,000,000 products in our database and downloading, parsing and indexing that data takes a while.

Datafeedr might not be the best solution for daily deal type of sites.

Hi Eric,

thanks for your reply.
We have discovered DataFeedr on Zanox Blog and we signed up because it is very professional, easy to use and customizable! But we didn't know anything about the update frequency of data feeds, as we didn't find this information.
Anyway, if the data feeds of the Italian merchants are updated every two days we will be very glad to continue to use DataFeedr, hopefully with success! Otherwise probably we need to find another solution, but we are extremely sorry because we have spent a lot of time to see all videos, understand how the plugin works and customize pages...
Hope you can confirm the update frequency!

Thank you very much!

Can you let me know which of the Italian networks and/or merchants you plan to use?

Hi Stefan,

thanks for your message!

About the Italian networks we use Zanox, Tradedoubler, Tradetracker and Amazon IT (but this one is maybe always updated by API?)
We already use almost all merchants that you support in these networks.

Anyway, not all merchants change data feeds everyday. For example PrezzoFelice and Marco Polo Shop on Tradedoubler and others on Zanox update the feed everyday.

We think is okay the updating every couple of days for those merchants who change regularly the feed.

Please let us know what you think.

Thanks and have a nice Sunday!

Yes, we make use of Amazon's API so product info should be up to date all the time (assuming the product info is correct in Amazon's database).

Regarding Amazon make sure you also have entered the Amazon keys in the plugin (Amazon API tab).

The updating of the networks you mention already occurs (most of the time) every couple of days so it should be no problem to have updated feeds (most of the time).

Thank you very much Stefan!
We will have a look at the data feeds to follow the updating.
Have a nice day!
