Feed Issues and Such

Store ID: 47418
Website URL: https://www.sumomobilehome.com
URL to page in question: https://www.sumomobilehome.com

Hi,

I'm setting up my new store at https://www.sumomobilehome.com and am experiencing the following problems:

1. I cannot use the find/search feature to mass import to pull in the category of products. So, the feed works fine; it's just the find/search utility that doesn't find anything in mass per category volume. Otherwise, I'll have to add these by hand, and at 800 sku's, it will take me an eternity.

2. If you look at the merchants website, there are products missing from the feed. See: http://mobilehomepartsstore.com/mobi...cessories.html There no Ventline Range Hood Fan Blades, no Ventline Range Hood Grease Filters, etc. Is the merchant blocking these from being listed in the feed?

Thank you,
Josh

1. If category information is available in the feed the categories are available in the product tags that you see under each product record in the Factory. You can use the tag filter in your searches if you want to pull in products per category.

2. I downloaded the latest feed and I can only find 11 Ventline products. So it looks like merchant has not included all their products in the feed.

Thanks for the reply, Stefan.

1. I tried searching by tags and other parameters, but most of the time, there were no results. The merchant tagged every singe product with this:
  • décor
  • family
  • home
  • home-décor
  • home-family

Did the merchant do a lousy job on their feed or something?

2. Agreed.

3. If I'm not able to stock up my products into their respective categories, I have a back up plan. With that in mind, how can I pull all the products in at once just so I can start adv SEO? I need to load it up with content before I can start marketing the site.

3a. If I do pull them in all at once, and then change the URLs later (to categorize them, etc), will WP/DFR rewrite the URLs for me?

Thank you,
Josh

1. Home/Family|Home Décor are the categories used in the datafeed for all 791 products in the feed. So yes, the merchant did a poor job in categorizing their products.

3. Use only the merchant filter in your search to display all products at once. You need to create at least one category so you can pull the products in.

3a. Yes, the urls will be rewritten if you change the categories. Note however that the original category page(s) may already have been indexed when you do so! That's why it's better imo to create the proper store category structure now.

1. Indeed.

3. Done: https://sumomobilehome.com/store/category/products/

3a. I think I'm going to hire a gopher @ $5/hr to manually enter in all products one-by-on, and to also enter in every image URL from Max CDN (see thread here). It'll take a few days of work, but like you said, I think it'll be worth the expense. For example, using the mass import "merchant" filter, I was able to bring in all of the products under one category named "products." Here is one product page, for example:

https://sumomobilehome.com/store/pro...06702098467902

So, that's the URL. It's live now. It'll probably get indexed. Question: Once I get my gopher to set everything up with its proper categories, how do I redirect every product url towards the new Category -> Product URL?

I hope that makes sense.

4. Last, how do I remove the Tag Could?

Thank you,
Josh

3. You should set up a 301 redirect in your .htaccess file for each store page URL that changed. See https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/93633?hl=en

4. See http://www.datafeedr.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5988 and http://www.datafeedr.com/videos/?vid...rc=yt#videotop
