Upgrading to V3 Backup & What Else to Do?

Hi Eric,

I'm going to upgrade to Version 3 (or perhaps don't have to) but before I do, I wanted to make sure that I've done everything I need to do keep what I have safe.

I've already created a backup of my store. Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks!

Hi

You could test a copy of the new store on a test site just so that you don't get anything you don't expect.

Backups of the database and the files are critical. Make sure you have both of those backed up and they are backups that you will be able to restore from.

How would I create a test site? Also I backed up the database how would I back up the files?

If your webhost uses cPanel, there is a backup utility in there.

You could set up a test site on your local computer if you have WAMP or MAMP installed.
Or you could set up one on a domain you are not using.
Or you could set up one on a sub-directory of your current site.
